Setup Instructions

Choose Layout Option:

The Monty floor bed can be setup with the opening on the right or left side of the bed and you also have the option of having the opening setup at the base or head of the bed.

Before setting up your bed, decide which side the opening will be to suit your room setup and then follow the steps below.

Construct Your Bed:

Step 1: The frame consists of 2 ends and 2 sides. Decide which side and orientation you'd like the opening to be on and lay the 2 sides in place.

The ends have holes for fitting the bolts and you'll notice that one of the bottom sides has 1 hole and the other has 2 holes (see image 1). The side with 2 holes must be aligned with the side rail with the opening.

Note: The end rails have wooden spacers attached along the bottom edge. These must face inwards towards the centre of the bed. They will house the bed slat supports later - special mention that we make these with offcuts from the bed slats to reduce waste!

Step 2: Line up one side with the corresponding end piece and insert bolts through the holes to attach to the threaded inserts in the side frame.

Alignment can sometimes be tricky the first time the bed is constructed so to aid alignment, only hand turn each bolt a couple of times until all bolts are inserted.

This will allow you to pull the frames apart slightly to line up the bolt with the threaded insert. Once all bolts are in and hand tightened, go around and tighten with the included allen key.

Important: DO NOT over tighten the bolts. Doing so may strip the bolts or threaded inserts. The bolts only need to be tightened until the sides are firmly together. The only area that needs to be tightened slightly more firm is the bottom edge directly adjoining the opening on the side rail.

Still do not over tighten these bolts but they must be firm to support the side frame.

Step 3: Once the frame is assembled, we can get started on the base. There are 2 support posts with wooden spacers attached on one side. Insert these on the outer edge inside the frame (placing the wooden spacers on the top side), using the guides on the frame ends to fit snugly against the side frame. Repeat on the other side.

For the Double and Queen sizes, there is also a middle support post (without spacers) that you will insert into the wooden guides in the centre of the frame.

Step 4: Place the wooden slats in between the spacers on top of the sub-frame you have just assembled.

Step 5: Place mattress on top of the slats, make the bed and give yourself a hi five - you've done it you bloody legend!
